Charlene Wittstock's Royal Wedding Jewelry

Monaco royal wedding watchers got two surprises at the highly anticipated nuptials of notorious bachelor, Prince Albert and former Olympic swimmer and all around hottie, Charlene Wittstock today.

No runaway bride. And no tiara.

Despite rumors of cold feet, Ms. Wittstock showed up in a smashing Armani Prive wedding frock that featured a 15-foot train with elegant embroidery and Swarovski crystals. Her look was topped off with a "Diamond Spray" tiara (if you can officially call it that) created by Lorenz Baumer with 11 encrusted pear-shaped diamond, according to Usmagazine.com.

The couple exchanged 18-karat white gold wedding bands from Cartier in front of the usual royal suspects along with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, James Bond star Roger Moore, former supermodel Naomi Campbell, and veteran fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld.

(Click here for my report on her engagement ring bling if you're curious.)

Now that all that formal info is out of the way - can we talk about the 'no tiara' decision for a sec?

Kindof a shocker, considering the royal protocol for such things - but I for one think the look is smashing. Love the 'spray' effect and think it's the perfect fit for her updo. So there. What do you guys think?

And while the palace PR machine denies any 'runaway bride' scenario, I have yet to find a picture where these two look like there's one lick of chemistry left (unlike my fav royal couple - that Swedish sensation, Crown Princess Victoria and her commoner fitness-guru-turned-prince, Daniel Westling).

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden
Speaking of, the serious royal bling came out the night prior for a benefit concert/civil ceremony, where the only fireworks happening were...the fireworks (just kiddin' kids).

Here are my favorite shots from the night (you can always count on the carat-heavy coffers of Sweden to light things up). BA-ling!

Can't get enough royal watching? Stay tuned for my "Princess Catherine (aka Kate Middleton) and Wills Take North America" fashion roundup. Cheerio!

Queen Silvia of Sweden

Princess Madeleine of Sweden

Princess Mathilde of Belgium

Charlotte Casiraghi (daughter of Princess Caroline - granddaughter of Princess Grace of Monaco)
P.S. Anyone have any info on this cool statement necklace the Princess-to-be wore the night of her civil ceremony?

Heavy Metal Jewelry Lights Up CFDA Awards

Lady Gaga never met a spotlight she didn't steal, which was certainly the case at the 2011 CFDA Awards (aka: The Fashion Oscars) last night at New York's Allice Tulley Hall.

While she didn't bring the bling (sigh), she did shine in a studded Thierry Mugler number that unraveled into a sparkling thong (because who doesn't need a sparkling thong?).

Add one Anna Wintour-inspired seafoam bob, red-nailed monster claws and towering platforms, and you've got yourself a style icon in the making.

Which is exactly what the Council of Fashion Designers of America thought when they awarded her with the (aptly titled) Fashion Icon Award, which she accepted with her parents looking on.

And while pop stars were on the minds of the fashion elite, it was heavy metal that made the red carpet sparkle with a huge showing of statement jewelry in solid yellow gold - along with summertime staples like yellow gold hoops.

Turquoise trimmings were also trending - another must-have for summer, as every fashionista worth their debit cards ALL know, dahling.

So. What have we learned? Lady Gaga is keeping the wig industry in business - and there are two essential items you gotta put in heavy rotation for the upcoming summer months: turquoise and yellow gold sparkle.

Here are two great looks from Jewelry.com to get you going (click on the image for product info and pricing)...or click here for their entire assortment of fine jewels and gems at up to 80% off retail!

Day-glo bob, not included.

FINALLY - don't forget to cruise over to the Jewelry.com Facebook Page for a complete look at all the CFDA red carpet pics - from Jessica Alba and Naomi Watts to the Olsen Twins and the Divine Miss Anna and more!

Celebrity Engagement Ring Blitz

Cupid is making the rounds in celebrity-land this month, giving we jewelry hounds a cornucopia of diamond carats to count.

First and foremost - we've got another royal wedding on our hands. Huzzah! HRH Prince Albert of Monaco finally parted ways with his bachelor lifestyle by proposing to Olympic swimmer, Charlene Wittstock, with what appears to be a 3-carat pear-shaped diamond stunner (see Jewelry.com's report for more diamond details).

Next up? Our favorite swashbuckling elf, Orlando Bloom, is breaking hearts with news of his engagement to model, Miranda Kerr. A rep at the Diamond Information Center told Us Kerr's ring is an oval diamond set on a white gold or platinum band weighing in at an estimated 3-4 carats with a price as high as $65,000.

Ugly Betty may have lost the ratings war, but its star won big in the end with her recent engagement to longtime beau, Ryan Piers Williams. Reports put the carat count of the round center stone at 4 with an estimated price tag of around $70 large.

Finally? Vienna Miller's diamond engagement ring is making news because, well, it's still on her ring finger. Reports are swirling that Bachelor, Jake Pavelka, kicked her to the curb after discovering she was cheating on him while he was away on business.

If you didn't see that one coming, I have some beach property in the Gulf I'd like to show you.

And if prior Bachelor break-ups are any indication, she won't be wearing the 2-carat Neil Lane diamond much longer. The show's producers get back the bling once the honeymoon's over.

Are there any other recent celebrity betrothals I'm missing? Weigh in!
